5. Personal data
According to Art. 4 GDPR, personal data is any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. An identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person.
6. Contact form
If you provide us with personal data in the context of an inquiry via our contact form, we will use this data to fulfill our tasks exclusively for the purpose for which you provide us with this data, in particular to answer your questions. The data will be stored at the Hessian Central Office for Data Processing and will only be used by the persons responsible for processing your request.
In order to answer your questions, it may be necessary, depending on the circumstances, to forward your personal data to other offices within the state administration, federal or local authorities. If you do not agree to this, please let us know by activating the corresponding option field in our online form.
If the Hessian State Statistical Office is not responsible for your request, we will forward your submission to the responsible authority and inform you that your submission has been submitted to the responsible office.

7. Subscription to a newsletter
When you subscribe to a newsletter, the data you provide, such as your email address and the title of the newsletter, will be stored by the Hessian Data Processing Center and used only for sending the newsletter. You can cancel your subscription at any time and thus delete the data stored about you.
8. Sending a link to an article ("Send as e-mail")
You can use an electronic form to send a link to an article on the website, possibly supplemented by a personal message, to a third party to draw their attention to the article. Data provided by you, such as the e-mail address of the user and the e-mail address of the recipient and the title and link of the article, are stored at the Hessian Data Processing Center in order to be able to clarify unauthorized use or prevent misuse and are automatically deleted seven days after the end of access.
9. Social networks
You can activate data feeds on the homepage and in the social media newsroom and also recommend content from the website in your social network profile using a button. In both cases, user data such as the IP address is also transmitted to the social network. However, this only happens after the user has given their (one-off) express consent when activating this function. After that, data will be transmitted to the social network every time you use the website without further notice.
No data is stored by the operator of the website. The user can deactivate the function at any time and thus prevent further data transmission.
The Hessian State Statistical Office is active on the social network LinkedIn to inform the public about current news, statistics, and services and to present itself as an employer. The legal basis for the dissemination of personal data is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. e) GDPR in conjunction with Section 3 para. 1 HDSIG for public relations work and in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b) GDPR for the publication of job advertisements (recruitment).
For these purposes, general technical data, communication data and personal data of LinkedIn users are processed. Comments are always stored on the platform until they are deleted by the author. Private messages have a storage period of 3 years.

Processing by the Hessian State Statistical Office takes place to the extent that direct contact is made via interactive functions, e.g. comments or personal messages. We would like to point out that in this case you use the LinkedIn service offered here on your own responsibility. The Hessian State Statistical Office has no influence on the content and scope of the use of the data collected by LinkedIn or its disclosure to third parties.
LinkedIn may use analysis tools to evaluate personal data. The Hessian State Statistical Office has no influence on the use of such tools and does not receive any data obtained from the analysis. The Hessian State Statistical Office can only use the account to view certain non-personal data on the activities of LinkedIn users, such as statistics on the number of visitors to the government website.
When using LinkedIn, personal data is transferred to the United States of America. This transfer takes place on the basis of an adequacy decision in accordance with Art. 45 GDPR(Trans-Atlantic Data Privacy Framework).

10. Provision of embedded videos
Videos hosted on YouTube are integrated on the website. When the page on which the video is embedded is accessed, user data such as the IP address is transmitted to YouTube. However, the data will only be passed on to YouTube with the express consent of the user.
No data is stored by the operator of the website. The user can deactivate the function at any time and thus prevent further data transmission.
11. Method test in the register census
With the register census, population figures are to be determined on the basis of registers in future. The methods of a register census are currently being tested. The provisions of the Register Census Testing Act (RegZensErpG) and an agreement on joint data protection responsibility in accordance with Article 26 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which was concluded between the Federal Statistical Office and the Statistical Offices of the Federal States, apply to the methodology test.

12. Usage data
Each time an Internet file is requested, the following access data is stored at the Hessian Data Processing Center (HZD) for statistical analysis by employees of the state administration or the HZD:
- the page from which the file was requested,
- the name of the requested file,
- the date and time of the request,
- the amount of data transferred,
- the access status (file transferred, file not found, etc.),
- the access type (GET, POST),
- the description of the browser or operating system used,
- the anonymized IP address of the requesting computer,
- the session ID
- Cookies
For reasons of data security, i.e. to be able to clarify unauthorized access or prevent misuse of the website, the complete IP address of the requesting computer is recorded, stored and automatically deleted seven days after the end of access. To ward off attacks (e.g. DDoS attacks), web requests are also routed via an external IT security service provider. Here too, the full IP address is stored for seven days and then deleted.
Cookies or JAVA applets may be used on the website of the Hessian State Statistical Office. The use of these functionalities can be switched off by the respective user through the settings of the browser program.
Your data will not be transferred to third countries. Automated decision-making does not take place.

As a user of our website, you have various rights under the General Data Protection Regulation and the Hessian Data Protection and Freedom of Information Act, which arise in particular from Articles 15 to 18 and 21 GDPR and Sections 52 and 53 HDSIG

15. Right to rectification
If the information concerning you is not (or no longer) correct, you can request a correction in accordance with Art. 16 GDPR or Section 53 HDSIG. If your data is incomplete, you can request that it be completed.
16. Right to deletion
Under the conditions of Art. 17 GDPR and Sections 34 and 53 HDSIG, you can request the deletion of your personal data. Your right to deletion depends, among other things, on whether we still need the data concerning you to fulfill our legal obligations.
17. Right to restriction of processing
Within the scope of the provisions of Art. 18 GDPR and Section 53 HDSIG, you have the right to request a restriction on the processing of data concerning you.
18. Right to object
According to Art. 21 GDPR, you have the right to object to the processing of data concerning you at any time for reasons arising from your particular situation. However, we cannot always comply with this, e.g. if we are obliged to process data in accordance with Section 35 HDSIG as part of our official duties.
19. Right to complain
If you are of the opinion that we have not complied with data protection regulations when processing your data, you can lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. Data protection information - for the processing of personal data in recruitment procedures
By submitting your application documents, the HSL is authorized to process your personal data in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in conjunction with Section 23 para. 1 of the Hessian Data Protection and Freedom of Information Act (HDSIG) in order to carry out the recruitment process. Access by unauthorized persons is excluded in accordance with Section 59 para. 3 HDSIG. All application documents will be deleted immediately after completion of the proper recruitment process in accordance with data protection regulations.
